ASTRONAUT
MEMORIAL PLANETARIUM & OBSERVATORY |
Florida's
largest planetarium features star shows, a three-story IWERKS movie theater
and laser shows. The building also houses a fully accessible observatory,
a hands-on demonstration hall and a museum honoring space explorers from
around the world.

Brevard's history with aid of historic artifacts from native Americans
as well as 15th century Spaniards. Children enjoy the Discovery Room
where they touch, see, read and learn. Associated with the museum is
a 22-acre wildlife sanctuary including nature trails.

BREVARD ZOO |
The
Brevard Zoo features a variety of Latin American, Australian and Asian
animals, as well as those native to Florida, including jaguars, llamas,
giant anteaters, monkeys, exotic birds and more. Also included are an
interpretive learning center and animal encounter area. Popular with
children are the tropical waterfowl exhibit and "Paws On," a
hands-on experience featuring miniature horses, goats, rabbits and other
furry animals.

MERRITT ISLAND NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE |
The
northern portion of Brevard County and part of Volusia County include
two of the last true wildlife havens, including 57,000 acres of wilderness
stretching 25 miles from New Smyrna Beach to the edge of Kennedy Space
Center.

This
facility is dedicated to the story of America's first space heroes-the
Mercury and Gemini astronauts. Here you relive the excitement of America's
first steps in space by enjoying the historic artifacts, personal mementos
and rare video footage. Guests may experience the thrill of the Astronaut
Adventure by climbing aboard a full-scale Space Shuttle Orbiter mock-up
for a multi-media trip into the future. You can also land the space shuttle
Columbia and float in the virtual reality world of weightlessness as
you "repair" the Skylab. The Astronaut Hall of Fame is also
the home of U.S. Space Camp Florida, a residential space/science camp
dedicated to encourage children (ages 7-11) to study math and science,
using the excitement of the space program to spark their interest.
